Cost To Carry

We are given the first cost estimates of CIF (Cost/Value + Insurance + Freight) of about $8,500 and customs duty, taxes, clearing and handling charges in Maputo of about $2,800; and a rough estimate of forwarding costs from Maputo to Beira, handling, trucking to Dondo and offloading estimate of $1,800.
Gordon emails from Dondo (Beira) after speaking with Joao Wenningkamp Director of the Dondo Iris Center about his thoughts on having the bicycles arrive there. Joao said there is a "very great need" for bikes in central Mozambique, and he would love to have vocational training for some of the youth to learn how to maintain and repair the bicycles. However, he needs to hear more about Ron's vision and strategy.

Now Ron has to revise the donation invoice so it has a Beira address and contact person and that it has the correct number of adult and children's bicycles. We have been asked to ship primarily adult bicycles for pastors who will use them to take the gospel into the bush villages, and only 25 children's bicycles. We continue to pray for Gordon, Francisco and this new clearing agent.

Faxing Around The World

Ron's updated faxed Commercial Invoice was received, and Gordon is meeting with Francisco in a few days to present them to the prospective new clearing agent. We are asked to pray with them for favor and speedy responses from the government.
